SafeGuard™

SafeGuard™ is an automated online trace metals analyzer for monitoring municipal and industrial water and wastewater. The system provides real-time, multi-stream analysis for a range of trace metal contaminants.

SafeGuard delivers accurate and reliable results (up to 1 ppb or ± 15%, whichever is higher) with a typical measurement time of fewer than 30 minutes. An enhanced system is available with a fast turn around time of 5 minutes without compromising accuracy. The analyzer can be used to measure up to two different trace metals contaminants on the same instrument.

Trace Metals

Contaminants such Arsenic, Chromium-6, Lead, and Selenium have come under increased regulatory pressure due to their impact on public health and the environment. The ability to obtain high frequency data and adjust contaminant remediation processes in real‐time to mitigate the impact of trace metals is only made possible through the use of the online MetalGuard™ and SafeGuard™ analyzers.

Rick Bacon, Chief Executive Officer

Rick, who has a keen interest in technology start-ups and innovation, has led AMS through their development and commercialization of online, real-time analytical and remediation solutions to predict, control and treat a range of contaminants in drinking water, process water and wastewater. Rick holds a degree in Land Economy from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom and a PhD from the University of California Santa Barbara.

Michael West, Ph.D, Sr. Product Manager

Michael holds a PhD in synthetic organometallic chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. Michael developed and patented the analytical techniques required for monitoring the concentrations of organic and inorganic components of solutions used in the manufacture of semiconductor devices by electrodeposition and etching, as well as contaminants in water. As Sr. Product Manager at AMS, Michael has been instrumental in the development of the broad suite of online water quality monitors offered by the company.

Harmesh Saini, Ph.D., Staff Scientist

Harmesh developed the initial analytical techniques for the THM-100 products of online THM monitors and offline analyzers. Prior to joining AMS, Harmesh was the manager of the Water Lab, Balazs Analytical Laboratory, a leading provider of analytical services for semiconductor and other high-tech industries concerned about contamination that was acquired by Air Liquide. Harmesh developed High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Preparative High Performance Liquid Chromatography (PHPLC) at Dionex, Inc., a leading provider of liquid chromatography analysis instrumentation.
