Los Banos, Calif. SafeGuard™ H2O Cr(VI) Treatment System Pilot Report
A SafeGuard™ H2O intelligent Cr(VI) remediation system demonstration unit with a treatment capacity of 10 gpm was installed with the City of Los Banos, California to evaluate the performance of the technology to treat Cr(VI) to non-detect levels (under 1 ppb) in unchlorinated well water. SafeGuard H2O is an innovative technology based on a proprietary approach that generates on demand a stannous ion reagent in-situ via an electrolytic process. The pilot with Los Banos provided confirmation of the technology’s efficacy and third-party validation of the SafeGuard H2O system as a cost-effective alternative to traditional Cr(VI) treatment systems. Results are detailed.

In this episode of AMS Talks Value of Data series, Rick Bacon, CEO of AMS, is joined by Craig Douglas, P.E., General Manager at the Brunswick & Topsham Water District (BTWD) in Maine, who discusses the importance of real-time monitoring water quality for THMs to support the district’s water treatment process. Douglas shares insights about how the use of the online THM-100™ analyzer has proven a valuable tool enabling BTWD to optimize operations, better understand treatment processes, resolve THM compliance concerns and validate laboratory performance and results.

AMS is committed to bringing intelligent water remediation solutions that can be fully controlled, monitored and optimized remotely, while ensuring that these systems are more accessible to a wider sector of the population through affordable financial models. As such, AMS has offered an official response to a white paper — “Economic Feasibility Analysis in Consideration of a Hexavalent Chromium MCL” — published by the California State Water Board (SWB), who is engaged in a process of consultation to determine at what level the regulatory limit for Cr(VI) should be set. AMS’ position on Cr(VI) regulation and comments to SWB are summarized in this technical brief.

AMS CEO Rick Bacon caught up with Walid Khoury, a leading water consultant and influencer, on the value of predictive analytics in trihalomethane monitoring. Bacon discusses how AMS’ online THM and THM formation potential (THM-FP) monitoring solution helps to optimize water treatment processes and operations by accurately measuring THMs in real time within the plant and predict very precisely, what those THM levels will be in the distribution network, days and miles away.

The state of California has a long history managing Cr(VI) in its drinking water and has been working to reestablish a standard by reevaluating the health information, as well as technologies that can provide effective treatment at lower costs. To address the lack of an effective and economically viable treatment solution for big cities, small communities, and industries, AMS has developed a low-cost Cr(VI) remediation system that removes this carcinogen to non-detectable levels at a fraction of the cost of traditional treatment systems.
AMS Talks: Innovations in Arsenic Removal Treatment Technologies
In this episode of AMS Talks, Rick Bacon, CEO of AMS, discusses innovations in arsenic removal treatment technologies and why it might be time to implement a more stringent federal standard for this carcinogenic contaminant than the 10 ppb limit set by the EPA in 2001.
