Viewpoints: Hexavalent Chromium Removal, Future-Proof Your Technology Investment
Cities across California must prioritize the implementation of Cr6 treatment solutions while protecting their investment. Therefore, as cities set out to meet today’s 10-ppb MCL, they must consider the MCL of the future and adopt the right Cr6 treatment approach that can cost-effectively comply with a more stringent regulatory limit. SafeGuard™ H2O provides a solution that ensures safety and confidence for cities. With SafeGuard™ H2O, cities can pursue a water blending strategy where appropriate and be assured of sustainable compliance if the State decides to lower the MCL.
Viewpoints: Benefits of Real-time Monitoring of Lead and Copper in Drinking Water Systems
The Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI) regulation will rely more heavily on using lead and copper testing and monitoring apparatuses. These apparatuses have issues around sampling constraints and lack real-time data on water corrosivity to anticipate the risk of lead/copper corrosion before it happens in homes/schools/daycares. This is where the benefit of real-time lead and copper monitoring in drinking water systems can significantly contribute to a water system’s compliance with the proposed lead and copper action levels outlined in the LCRI. The automatic, unattended online MetalGuard™ analyzer from AMS provides high-frequency, timely, and accurate predictive data to stakeholders on their exposure to lead or copper contamination risks.
Viewpoints: Minimize the Environmental Impact of Semiconductor Manufacturing with Real-Time Online Trace Metals Analysis
Semiconductor manufacturing is not only highly dependent on large volumes of water that must be treated to ultrapure standards, but the process also generates significant volumes of wastewater that contains heavy metals and toxic solvents. To reduce its environmental impact, the semiconductor industry is actively searching for new ways to optimize water consumption and improve the quality of wastewater effluent. AMS offers innovative online real-time, continuous trace metals monitoring solutions designed to aid the semiconductor industry in optimizing water consumption, improving the quality of wastewater effluent and reducing its environmental impact.
Intelligent water treatment systems incorporate real-time sensing to ensure that their performance is optimized to avoid under- or over-treatment and that any deterioration in system performance is signaled to permit timely remedial intervention.
News: The Cheyenne Refinery Installs MetalGuard™ to Monitor Selenium Levels in Real-Time
HollyFrontier Cheyenne Refining LLC, a subsidiary of HollyFrontier Corp., Dallas, has purchased and installed the MetalGuard™ Selenium online analyzer to measure the wastewater selenium profile at the Cheyenne Refinery, Cheyenne, Wyoming.
News: Online Cr(VI) Monitor Validates RCOF Process
A California Water Utility experiencing elevated levels of hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] in their drinking water supply is the first commercial application to use the MetalGuard™ Cr(VI) real-time water quality monitor developed by AMS. The monitor was installed to provide high frequency, reliable, and accurate data on hexavalent and total chromium levels during the pilot test of a Reduction/Coagulation/Oxidation/Filtration (RCOF) process.
News: EU Utility Receives Accreditation for THM-100™
Aigües de Barcelona, the leading water utility in Spain, has received accreditation to the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 Standard for using AMS’ online THM-100™ analyzer to continuously monitor THMs in its drinking water supply network, which serves 3,000,000 million inhabitants across metropolitan Barcelona. In addition to providing the utility with contract compliance and process optimization data, THM readings can now be used to submit regulatory compliance data.
Viewpoints: Control DBP Formation in Wastewater Effluent with Online THM Analyzer
Balancing THM mitigation strategies with nitrogen and nutrient removal processes is key for staying compliant. In this viewpoints piece, AMS discusses the importance of controlling THMs in wastewater effluent and how online THM analyzers can help wastewater treatment plants stay on top of strict regulatory requirements. The article dives into the various factors — like source water characteristics and disinfection variables — that affect THM formation, while emphasizing the importance of measuring real-time THM levels in wastewater effluent.
News: Online Water Quality Instruments Poised for Growth
Real-time data and analytical information from online instruments help utilities comply with water quality regulations. The complete article detailing how online water quality instruments are poised for growth was published in the March/April 2015 issue of World Water.
News: PAX Water Technologies Unveils In-Tank Aeration Install at San Jose Water Company
Richmond-based PAX Water Technologies and Sunnyvale-based Aqua Metrology Systems unveiled the installation of an innovative in-tank aeration system at San Jose Water Company. The system, installed by Utility Service Group, is being deployed in a 12 million-gallon water storage tank to maintain high water quality during the drought.
